Atmosphere Burj Khalifa

ATMOSPHERE

When the sun touches the giant. Nothing less than the sunlit Burj Khalifa became the inspiration for our light installation called Atmosphere. The object resembles the iconic architecture of the tallest building in the world illuminated by rays of sun.

THE STORY

The main structure of the Burj Khalifa is based on "organic inspiration", taken from the HYMENOCALLIS flower. Like petals from a stem, the tower's wings extend from its central core. No stranger to Middle Eastern design, architect Adrian Smith incorporated patterns from traditional Islamic architecture. But his most inspiring muse was a regional desert flower, whose harmonious structure is one of the organizing principles of the tower's design. We have used this quality to form a similar silhouette for our Atmosphere light object.

THE FORM
Our homage to this superb building is the installation consisting 182 prism-shaped components in two lengths and two colors of clear and amber glass to induce the illusion of sun-kissed surface of Burj Khalifa. All of the glass components are made of hand-blown artistic glass in our glassworks in the Czech Republic using the traditional method of blowing into a metal mold.
